CHARACTER NAME: Tartaglia (Childe)
CHARACTER AGE: Early 20s. I've picked 23 for him based on the timeline of events in-game, given he earns the title of Harbinger at 18.
CANON: Here!
CANON POINT: Archon Quest Chapter IV, Act 5, end of "The Masquerade of the Guilty"
CRAU INFO: N/A
SUITABILITY: It would be difficult to imagine a character more suited for this setting than Childe. If there is one way to describe him, it is his pursuit of battle—a desire to improve himself and get stronger at any cost. He is someone who sows chaos wherever he goes due to his single-minded drive to fight, putting himself on the front lines to better test his own abilities. In fact, the more dangerous it is to battle the kaiju of this foreign world, the better. One of his fellow Harbingers, a man named Pulcinella, describes him as such: "He has unusual tastes when it comes to combat—the encounters he craves the most being those that bring him closest to his own demise." The more powerful his adversary, the more excited Childe becomes; he is known to seek out dangerous opponents for the thrill and love of combat itself. Additionally, he is not someone who is concerned with victory or failure. As long as he has learned something from his experience, then to him it is always worth it. That said, he is prideful, so of course he enjoys winning too, it's simply not his main priority. He fights for the passion of fighting alone.
The genesis of this attitude comes from the childhood trauma he experienced, where he fell into the Abyss as a fourteen-year-old boy. There, he was forced to survive against malevolent beasts, taken under the wing of his master, Skirk, and also receiving his Vision. He trained in the Abyss for three months (in the real world, only three days had passed) and emerged an entirely new person, one who craves violence, one fueled by a hunger for more and more power. His ultimate goal is to conquer the world; he swears fealty to the Tsaritsa, the god of his homeland, Snezhnaya, because she plans to raze down Teyvat and create a new world.
All of this to say, Childe would join LILITH's cause willingly for the simple fact that it will allow him to get stronger. He is no stranger to battlefields, having spent the majority of his life now on them. After returning from the Abyss, his father soon enlisted him into the Fatui (the military of Snezhnaya) and worked his way up the ranks, proving himself as an admirable soldier. He joined the Fatui Harbingers, who are considered the most elite force beneath the Tsaritsa, at only eighteen, the youngest ever. It would make sense for LILITH to enlist him, given his motivation as well as his fierce talent for violence. Childe also isn't someone who likes to scheme behind the scenes, so the chances of him trying to betray LILITH are fairly low without extenuating circumstances. He will not let humanity down.

POWERS & SKILLS: Childe is unique within the context of the Genshin Impact universe for the fact that he wields both a Vision (Hydro element) and a Delusion (Electro element). I have split these into two separate categories to outline their abilities.
Vision
Mechanically, Childe can do four things: Normal Attack, Charged Attack, Elemental Skill, and Elemental Burst.Normal Attack: fires his bow normally at opponents with no elemental damage Charged Attack: fires his bow at opponents with Hydro applied Elemental Skill: allows him to Normal Attack with Hydro applied while dual-wielding swords Elemental Burst: applies AOE Hydro damage to all opponents, triggering the riptide status effect to explode if they have been marked
Essentially, the Vision that Childe possesses grants him mastery over the Hydro element in the game. When using his bow, he can attack opponents and apply the riptide status effect—a mark that tags them and constantly applies AOE Hydro damage. He can cast this mark either by using a Charged Attack with his weapon, or through his Elemental Burst, which basically is another AOE Hydro damage attack on all nearby opponents. He is able to materialize Hydro swords in his melee stance from his Elemental Skill, using these to dual-wield in battle rather than rely on his bow. Additionally, he creates a large whale out of Hydro and can crash it down onto his opponent.
Delusion
There is less mechanically outlined for this because the player cannot actually access his Delusion when using him in-game, but you can fight him as a boss. From what we have seen of this boss fight and also from story events, his Delusion has two phases. (The first phase of the boss fight is his normal Hydro Vision state, so the second and third are actually what I'm listing here for those game-familiar.)Phase One: Childe will put on his mask and activate the insignia on his chest. He gains access to the Electro element, which he uses to dual-wield two Electro swords. He also will fuse these swords together to create a longer Electro spear. He fights with these weapons similar to his Hydro state, but instead of water it is now electricity. Phase Two: This involves a magical girltransformation into the Foul Legacy form, where he puts on additional armor, a new mask, and basically alters his entire appearance. This form is significantly larger than his normal human size. In this state, he alternates between large Electro swords and a spear to fight like before, but he's stronger, more durable, and gains the ability to teleport around the battlefield. The Electro itself is also heightened in energy and power, allowing him to destroy buildings with lightning bolts, levitate off the ground, and apply an Electro version of riptide (as described above). It's also worth mentioning that he can still use his Hydro Vision while in this Delusion form.
Martial Prowess
This is mainly a blanket category for all of his non-Vision and non-Delusion skills. Childe has mastery over all weapon types, although he states that he is least proficient with a bow (which is why he uses it most often, so that he can improve). He is a talented warrior named Eleventh of the Harbingers at only 18, which implies that his strength is far above average. I wouldn't put it at a supernatural level, however, just greater than a normal human. He has good stamina and agility overall and has been trained as a Fatui operative. He cares more for straight combat than machinations behind the scenes.
NERFED POWERS: I don't think any of Childe's abilities need to be nerfed, as they are not game breaking. His Hydro Vision essentially allows him to become a waterbender—it does not come with any enhancement or other special ability. His Delusion, on the other hand, has its own built-in drawback, because through use of it Childe suffers ill effects and often requires extensive recovery afterward. Otherwise, he is just a normal (albeit power hungry) human. However, if the mods see anything they would like nerfed, please let me know and I'm happy to adjust.
PERSONAL ITEM: His weapon, Polar Star. According to the wiki, it is "a pristine bow that is as sharp as the glaciers of the far north." There is nothing special about it, and it doesn't provide any extra abilities (except specific video game stat mechanics that won't apply to RP), but it looks pretty! And it matches him! He can summon or dispel it through use of his Vision.
ALTERNATE IDENTITY: His alternate identity will be Nikolai Valeyev, with Nikolai meaning "people of victory" and Valeyev (from Vali) meaning "strong; healthy; vigorous." His fake occupation will be "celebrity nanny" or "au pair," which is essentially a glorified babysitter for wealthy people.
CODE NAME CHOICE: I have a few options that I think could be fun.Narwhal (reference to the whale of the Abyss from his childhood) Young Lord (translation of his Chinese name) Lisa (Russian word for fox, but also funny since it's a woman's name)
Right now, Lisa is the most compelling to me and it's the one I like the most, but I'd ask whether it could be written with the Russian alphabet (лиса) and then maybe auto-translated by the ocular implants. That would be my preference! But of course, LILITH gets the final call. I'd like something serious if none of the above, maybe either related to whales, the ocean, or being a warrior!
